Middle Aged Idiots!

I hate classes geared toward middle aged students. One of the requirements for my degree is a computer literacy class. I've only been using computers my whole life, I think I'm computer literate. The option is available to test out of the class, but I FAILED. The part I failed was about M$ Access. I don't know why it's even required. I've never had the need to create a database for anything. I'm sure most people don't, and the few that do can just RTFM instead of learning about it in a class. Then there's the fact that the class is all about Microcrap Office software. Leave it up to instuitions of higer learning to perpetuate software monoculture.

In other news, I can play StarCraft under Linux now. That's right folks, a Winblows game under Linux.

Back to monoculture... If you grow crops, you don't just grow one thing right? Take cotton for example, if you just grow cotton eventually the soil will become depleted and then unusable. Then along came GW Carver. He figured out that if you alternate between cotton and squash, the soil stays fertile. How does that compare to computers? Well, Winblows and it's software emptys people's wallets, enter Linus Torvalds and Linux. Linux is free, and can do most things just as well, if not better than windows. But in this case, it's okay not to alternate and just use Linux.
